EMR CONCLUSION EMR CONCLUSION The EMR project has so far been a very successful project, given the fact that it was able to go through all stages of the system development lifecycle process to its logical conclusion. Davis and Wallbridge (2008) noted that in the healthcare sector, the implementation of systems must be aimed at achieving one goal and that is to improve the quality of service given to patients. But before this can be achieved, all processes of the system development lifecycle must be followed to the letter.

This would ensure that the system can be justified for its effectiveness in addressing the issues that face the facility on a constant basis and for its efficiency in improving productivity. At the pre-implementation stage, a plan of action was set with specific dates by which time specific goals must be achieved. To a very large extent, this was a good step in setting the scope of the system to know what its limits of it are and finding ways to make up for the limitations (Thompson and Thompson, 2008).

The fact that a recap session was also developed at the post-implementation stage to ensure that end users and practice leadership discussed key aspects of the go-live system was also a step in the right direction. This is because Davis and Wallbridge (2008) stressed the need for there to be periodic and constant evaluation and monitoring of health information systems (HIS) in ensuring that they are functioning according to levels that have been set for them from the onset. As West Palm has fulfilled all of these processes and steps effectively, it can be concluded that the facility is not in a position to gain the competitive advantage of the system, especially if it would continue to train its human resource to be on top of the use of the system to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
