Extract of sample "Role of Magnesium in the Human Body"

In the article “Magnesium in Disease,” Gelger and Wanner (2012) point out the functions of Magnesium in the cure of ailments. Metabolic Syndrome is a modern times disease that involves hypertension, diabetes mellitus, impaired glucose tolerance, and obesity. Magnesium is the curing factor and helps in the elimination of any threats arising from any of these ailments. According to data estimates, a quarter of the American adult population suffers from the disease. Research has been conducted to help in the verification of curative applications of magnesium in relation to the disease.

In 2002, a study on a cross-sectional population revealed the relationship between the level of Magnesium and Metabolic Syndrome. Mexicans with (n =192) metabolic syndrome and individuals under the healthy control of matching age with n =384. 1.8 mg/dL was considered a low concentration, having 66% of the Mexicans in the bracket, compared to only 4.9% of the controlled population. The study has also been conducted among women participating in the Women’s Health Study producing similar results (Geiger and Wanner 2012).

Magnesium provides energy and endurance during practice, making it an extremely reliable nutrient for the human body.
