In the long run, Smith had a relationship with David Smith, who was a co-worker and a school friend. After years of being together, the couple decided to get married in 1991, and eventually, they moved to David’s great-grandmother’s residence. Not long after, Michael Daniel Smith was born, the couple’s first son. Nevertheless, the advent of their first child did not improve their relationship as married couples instead it had put a strain on it. So, in 1992, the two separated. The two reunited in 1993 in which their second child, Alexander Tyler was borne; however, immediately, the couple broke up again and decided not to come up with reconciliation.

Susan then obtained a job and became a CEO of a famous company in Union, S.C. at the time, the Conso Products. Consequently, he has got to meet with the elites of the city, especially the son of his boss, Tom Findlay. Tom and Susan dated for short, and Tom finally decided to end up his connection to Susan by writing her a letter. Because of this, Susan decided to kill his two children, Michael and Alexander by strapping them in their seats inside the car, and drove the car into the lake, until it was completely immersed with her children inside.

What could have been the most striking of all is when authorities suspected that the main reason why Susan killed her children was inside the “Dear John” letter from Tom Findlay. One of the most telling lines I will quote: “there are some things about you that aren't suited for me, and yes, I am speaking about your children. I'm sure that your kids are good kids, but it really wouldn't matter how good they may be . the fact is, I just don't want children” (SCDC, 2012). Susan was convicted to life in prison and will become eligible for parole after thirty (30) years of incarceration (SCDC, 2012).

The Charges Susan was charged with “two counts of murder”. The trial took more than two hours before the judge could release a guilty verdict against Smith. Absolutely, no one had ever seen the murder took place. That is why, there had been so many press releases questioning whether Smith was really indeed the murderer or the victim. But even before the incarceration or the release of the guilty verdict against Smith, upon the interrogation of the authorities, Smith plotted a deceitful tale about what happened during the day her children was murdered.

She claimed that she had been carjacked by a black man who took her car with her children inside. The Black American drove his son somewhere she had no knowledge about. Nevertheless, after more than a week of interrogation, she confessed to the authorities that she killed her children by herself. She deliberately rolled her car into the John D. Long Lake, with her kids inside the car drowned (Rekers, 1996). What is more convincing of her responsibility over the crime is that she really knew the location where she the killing incident happened.

Also, upon the retrieval of the car, the “Dear John” the would later become a strong evidence against Smith was recovered. Seen this way, there is no question to the “two counts of murder” that was charged against Susan. The Psychology of the Crime Susan’s life was overwhelmed by his tragic experiences during her childhood. As a child, Susan was molested by her
