Technology has mimicked this notion as computers are designed to perform a number of tasks at the same time. Paradoxical thinking is the ability of the mind to switch to ideas that are opposite to what is conventional (Corsini 689). It is the way people are able to react to situations in an opposite manner compared to the natural form of doing. This form of thinking is popular to people who engage in a lot of research and experiments with the aim of discovering something new. In this case, scientists are the best examples of people who practice paradox thinking in their daily life. Paradoxical thinking is based on suspicion and the internal feeling that the outcome of a certain thing, idea or experiment will turn out to be exactly as expected. Although the method might be the opposite of the normal or natural way of doing, the outcome should turn out to be the same or better than when the normal procedure is used. Paradoxical thinking is believed to produce extraordinary outcomes. An example of a brilliant demonstration of paradoxical thinking is by a famous scientist known as Faraday back in the 1830s. He discovered that when a current is moving through a wire, it bares the effect of deflection a magnetized needle thus can be applicable to a compass needle. He used this idea to create an electric motor which is currently used in electric transformers. Company demonstrate paradoxical thinking The current world market has a lot of competition. Ideas are being generated every day and the technology keeps on advancing with the change in time. New products appear in the market everyday with manufacturers trying to outdo each other by modernism their products to meet the needs of the consumer. This has called for the alert of every company in order not to be left aside with the emerging trends of technology. Paradoxical thinking plays a key role in ensuring that the goods produced by various companies merge the current technology and are suitable to the consumers. Most companies have maintained their high performances in the world market because of using paradoxical thinking as a tool to outdo their competitors. The concept of this form of thinking is simply to do things the opposite of the intended way. This helps the company be unique and unpredictable. The Coca-Cola Company is one of the companies which have a team of staff who have mastered the art of paradoxical thinking. The company is known to be one of the best producers of soft drinks. Many companies have drawn their skills and ideas from this company and tried to compete with it in the world market but Coca-Cola Company has turned out to be outrageous. It introduces new products to the market every year. This has kept the anxiety of the company’s customers going as they are always eager to know what the company has to offer next. This makes Coca-Cola products to have an enormous sale in the world market. Its competitors are always on the watch to see their next move but have never succeeded in studying the exact trend that Coca-Cola Company is using in its production sector. Paradoxical thinking requires a lot of knowledge in the field that the mind is being subjected to think towards. In marketing, companies have to do a lot of research in order to know the preferences of their customers. They also have to study the technological trends and the world’s economic states as well. This provides the company with a rough idea to create goods that are economical to the consumers and profitable to the company. A survey in the world market enables companies to practice the art of paradoxical thinking in using available materials with the current technology and designing goods that are user-friendly and of high demand in the market. This facet portrays how paradoxical thinking is indeed an essential aspect in the business world. The only way to survive in a competitive world is to have a better deal to offer compared to the existing ones. Paradoxical thinking provides people with the opportunity to reason ahead of others and produce outcomes that are not of normal expectations (Mapes 6). In business terms, this is referred as impulsive production. Importance of learning paradoxical thinking Paradoxical thinking is important as it is very applicable in the daily life of a normal human being. Often people are caught up in situations that require instant ideas in order to solve the situation and thus paradoxical thinking is a good method to use in handling such instances. Paradoxical thinking provides someone with another option to choose from rather than the existing one (Morton 29). Though the option may sound ambiguous in most cases, it might lead to a desired results or an outcome that is much better than the desired one. The only problem that is accompanied with paradoxical thinking is that if the correct strategies are not applied, the outcome of the thinking process might be of negative impact to the problem to be solved. In other instances, the outcome is negative to the expected result. The right brother and their effort to design a flying machine is a good example that portrays the effects of paradoxical thinking if not well strategized. They performed many experiments and failed in most of their trials but at the end, they realized their mistakes in thinking and thus input the right strategies to come out with the desired results and that is the aero plane which is currently used to offer transport services to people. Reasons why Paradoxical thinking is least used Paradoxical thinking is least used because of the fear of the unknown. This form of thinking involves the application of many risks that people often fear the end result. Therefore, people prefer using the normal form of reasoning because they are guaranteed of a result that is not astonishing (Dyer 3). Paradoxical thinking is left to tackle problems or make decisions that involve the taking of risk for instance business investment and medical operations. Paradoxical thinking is not common to many people since very few people engage themselves in activities that involve a lot of risk taking. Paradoxical thinking in management and leadership Leadership and management are among the fields that paradoxical thinking can be engaged in order to produce positive advancements. A good leader is a person who should be able to reason beyond others and provide solutions to difficult problems (Saren 56). Paradoxical thinking provides leaders with a method to apply in order to improve on their leadership skills. Management is another field where paradoxical thinking can be very resourceful. Most managers are frequently faced with tough decisions to make in the production sector. It is a hard task to maximize on the utility of minimal recourse and production of satisfying products (Saren 56). Managers ought to reason beyond the line in order to make this happen. Paradoxical thinking enables the managers to discover additional options and capitalize on these opportunities to produce the desired outcome. Managers in business companies can use paradoxical thinking to create more investments as it involves the studying of the world market and using this knowledge as the basis of reasoning. Conclusion Paradoxical thinking is essential to human life as the current world requires smartness of the brain in order to survive and exist happily. This type of thinking is vital in development and improvement of the world’s economy. It offers people a variety of life opportunities thus it is important for every person to endorse paradoxical thinking. Work cited Corsini Raymond J.The Dictionary of Psychology: New York.
