Community confinement, in this stage the most appropriate way to correct a wrong is through juvenile. Secure corrections, this people have a high risk and require extensive treatment and finally, aftercare, this stage is appropriate for offenders transitioning back into the community after secure care. The suitable or preferred method is immediate intervention. This is because it curbs crime before a person becomes delinquent. This method includes community service, restitution, curfew restrictions and short-terms programs.

This paper discusses about the graduated sanctions, different options in graduated sanction and the suitable methods. A graduated sanction is a way of intervention of the criminal justice, which punishes the offenders each time they offend. This system is used to reduce struggle and rehabilitates offenders. This program address the underlying family, school, peer group and an individual problem that is used to change offenders. Graduated sanctions has been beneficial, it has reduced costs, increased accountability by the juvenile and community (Fagan & Zimring, 2000).

A comprehensive strategy was setup in aim to improve the juvenile system, where offenders undergo a graduated sanction. Its goal is to enhance the program effectiveness and accountability, while trying to limit the cost of juvenile corrections. This system has improved the juvenile justice to the offenders. The establishment of Graduated sanction was, to satisfy the public demand for accountability an immediate consequence for the offenders, they had the potential to reduce costs by providing supervision for the offenders and the potential to increase offender’s obedience for pardon (Wodahl, 2008).

Graduated sanctions are different from the traditional ways of punishing the offenders. Wodahl stated the Graduated sanctions are policy driven policies (2008). Graduated sanctions are more successful in drug courts, because drug offender’s account for the most arrested
